After her debut at the Zürich Opera House as MEDÉE in February 2017, Solenn’ Lavanant
Linke also debuted with great success as CHERUBINO in Le Nozze di Figaro at the Bavarian
State Opera in Munich, the opening premiere of the 2017-18 season (directed by Christoph
Loy). In 2018 she was also a guest at the Munich Opera Festival in the same production.
Following this, she could be experienced in Bernstein’s JEREMIAH SYMPHONY under Dennis
Russell Davies in Budapest.
Her projects in 2018-19 include: CHERUBINO at the Mainz State Theatre, CONCERTS at
the Lucerne Festival, a TOUR through Switzerland with the Ensemble Mondrian with
chamber music, Mozart’s Great Mass in C minor in Zürich and DONNA ELVIRA in Don Giovanniat the Luzerner Theater in a new production by Benedikt von Peter.
Solenn’ Lavanant Linke was an ensemble member of the Theater Basel from 2009 to 2015;
during this time, when it was directed by Georges Delnon and Dietmar Schwarz, the
theater was twice in succession voted “Opera House of the Year”. Here the mezzosoprano
was able to build up a wide-ranging repertoire with roles such as CHERUBINO, IDAMANTE,
DORABELLA, KITCHEN BOY, VARVARA, CHARLOTTE, MARGUERITE and LA MUSE/NICKLAUSSE.
Solenn’ enjoyed particularly remarkable successes in Basel as CARMEN in a production
by Calixto Bieito and as MEDÉE by Charpentier under the musical direction of Andrea
In Basel she worked under directors such as Calixto Bieito, David Bösch, Benedikt
von Peter, Arpad Schilling, Elmar Goerden and Armin Petras.
Guest appearances led the singer to the following venues: the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence
in 2013 as IPPOLITA in Elena von Cavalli with Leonardo Garcia Alarcon, the Schwetzingen
SWR Festival in 2011 as MERIONE in Telemaco, the Tonhalle Zürich as CYRUS in Händel’s
oratorio Belshazzar, the Opéra de Lausanne as L’ENFANT in L’Enfant et les Sortilèges
and PENELOPE in Il ritorno d’Ulisse in Patria, Grand Théâtre de Genève with several
roles and the Festival d’Ambronay as OTTAVIA in L’Incoronazione di Poppea. In addition,
she recently performed in Poulenc’s LA VOIX HUMAINE in Bern and as CYRUS in Händel’s
Belshazzar in the Tonhalle Zürich.
The young mezzosoprano gave her opera debut at the Theater Bern in 2007 with the
roles LA PRIMA TROMBA in La Prova D’Orchestra and DOROTHÉE in Cendrillon. She returned
to Bern as SMERALDINE in L’Amour des trois oranges in 2010. Furthermore, she sang
HERMIA in A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Théâtre du Jorat in Mézières and the mezzo
solo in Bernstein’s Jeremiah Symphony with the Symphony Orchestra Basel conducted
by Dennis Russell Davies in the Stadtcasino Basel.
Her first CD recording was for the Ambronay Éditions label as DIDO in Purcell’s Dido
and Aeneas, conducted by Leonardo Garcia Alarcon. This recording was nominated in
2011for the MIDEM CLASSICAL AWARDS. Moreover, she collaborated on the CD production
“Camille Saint-Saëns: Music for the Prix de Rome” under Hervé Niquet for the Glossa
Solenn’ Lavanat Linke first studied art at the Art Academy in Paris until finding
her voice with Xavier Le Maréchal. She received her performance diploma from the
Haute école de musique in Lausanne in the masterclass of her teacher Gary Magby.
During her studies, Solenn’ was prize winner of the Fondation Colette Mosetti and
soloist of the Migros Cultural Percentage. After successfully concluding her studies,
she was employed by the Opera Studio of the Theater Basel in 2009, from which she
was then taken over in the soloist ensemble.
